OUR PROGRAMS - COMPUTER CAMPS
FAQ
Call
or e-mail us with any questions you may have. We like hearing from
you.
Do you use PC's or MAC's?
We use PC's in all workshops except for iApps
where we use Mac's. We have one computer per camper in all workshops
except for those that are designed for teams.
What operating system is used?
This summer we expect to use Windows XP. Workstation
speed and memory is tailored to the needs of the particular workshop.
Every year we update our hardware and software so you can take advantage
of expanding technologies.
What software packages are used?
We use over 20 different software applications
and use the most up-to-date versions that are relevant to our current
workshops.
Can I bring my laptop from home?
You may bring your computer to camp but it is
definitely not necessary and we are not responsible for any loss
or damage. We highly recommend that you register any electronic
equipment at the camp office for your protection.
Can I bring my cell phone?
Yes.
Can I bring my own Radio Controlled car to
work on?
We hope you will but it is not necessary. However,
if you have a gas powered RC car, leave it at home because the American
Camping Association won't let them on campus.
How many campers share a room and can I room
with a friend?
Two campers share a room and we have some large
rooms that accommodate three or four. As long as your friend also
wants to room with you it's no problem. Your parents and your friends
parents just need to list each other's name during online registration.
What
do we do at night?
Following workshops, you will have free time
in the dorm then dinner before heading off to our evening Rec &
Tech program that combines time for gaming, working on projects,
outdoor games and much more.
How
will I spend time with my camp friends?
Some
of your new friends will be in the same workshops as you or will
have Retro Games at the same time. We have both indoor and outdoor
options where you can learn a new game or sport, play board or card
games or participate in a variety of other group activities. Others
may be in your camper group. You can sit together during meals and
hang out during free lab time, dorm time or Rec & Tech. We also
have a camp party each session where day and overnight campers get
together to celebrate the fun you have had at camp.
What do we do on the weekends?
Saturday is a day of games and contests and
an outdoor BBQ. Day campers come too! Get ready for epic battles
with the counselors. Sundays are for taking part in an all camp
event that may include outside group activities, a DDR tournament
or Pool Olympics. You can sleep late, get involved in an activity
and then have free time in the computer labs and burn off some energy
out on the field. Following the all camp activity, you can also
choose free time in the dorms with your camp friends.
Do I get to play network and console games?
Sure. Network games will be available during
free lab times for day and overnight campers and gaming tournaments
are part of the evening Rec & Tech program. LAN gaming parties will
be hosted once each session. There will also be console games (using
the Wii, X-Box, P2 and GameCube) available for tournaments and open
play. You can sign up for the Popular Games Tech Workshop if you
want to play console games during the day. We also have a camp party
each session with tournaments in the most popular games.
Tell me about meals.
We have an all-you-can-eat format and a wide
choice of food and drinks to keep the brain and body in peak shape.
The choices are many and may include salad & pasta bars, grilled
cheese, pizza, burgers, fries, chicken, soups & sandwiches and don't
forget deserts!
Vegetarian meals are also available and other special dietary restrictions
and needs can often be accommodated. Tell us about your special
dietary needs when you register.
We also have a camp store where campers can purchase drinks, snacks,
camp t-shirts, etc.
