FOR PARENTS
Parent FAQs
How are campers grouped in the dorms?
Campers are grouped by age and gender. Most dorm rooms hold two
campers and at some locations there are some rooms that hold 3-4.
May campers room with
a friend?
As long as the friend also wants to room with your
camper it's no problem. Just list each other's name during online
registration.
What is the computer skill level of a typical
camper?
We welcome campers at all skill levels ranging from beginners to
experts. The curriculum is designed to accommodate different skill
levels. Our approach is personalized and hands-on which enables
campers to progress at their own pace.
How does my child pick workshops?
Campers select their workshops when registering prior to coming
to camp. We are happy to help you select workshops, just give us
a call. Campers choose three tech workshops and one recreation option.
Campers receive their schedule approximately one week before camp
begins. We make every effort to accommodate camper wishes but we
cannot guarantee that every workshop choice will be available due
to demand and scheduling constraints. In cases where demand exceeds
capacity, spots are allocated on a first come first served basis.
Can my child change workshops once camp begins?
Yes, for the first two days of camp we try to accommodate requests
for changes so long as there is an available spot in the desired
workshop.
How many campers are in a typical workshop?
A typical workshop ranges in size from 5-10 campers. Larger workshops
will generally have a Program Assistant in addition to the counselor.
Is there a computer for every camper in a
workshop?
Yes, we have one computer per camper in our tech workshops except
for some Build workshops where the curriculum is designed for campers
to work in teams.
Are campers allowed to leave campus or move
around campus unescorted?
No. Campers are escorted on campus by Counselors, Program Assistants
or Senior Campers and no overnight camper may leave campus. Day
camp families will have a password for daily pick-up.
Do campers have internet access?
The Internet is used in supervised workshops and during supervised
free time. Camp rules prohibit the viewing of inappropriate websites
at any time. Campers who bring computers from home may connect them
to the internet in the dorms. Camp rules require open dorm room
doors when campers are not dressing or sleeping, however, we cannot
guarantee that campers who bring their own computers will not access
the internet and make such access available to a roomate in violation
of camp rules.
Will you provide references?
Yes. Give us a call and we will be happy to supply you with a list
of references.
How is laundry done?
Each dorm is equipped with coin operated washers and dryers. Detergent
is supplied and campers will be able to purchase rolls of coins
through their cash account held at the campus. Younger campers are
assisted by counselors.
Is camp appropriate for my 8 - 10 year old?
Our program is geared to offer a traditional camp experience to
campers who have an interest in technology…regardless of age. Our
low ratio of campers to staff, age appropriate recreational activities
and age-based residential rooming assignments can be very beneficial
to our younger campers. We understand parent concern about sending
youngsters to camp and we can arrange periodic updates during your
child's stay with us.
Is transportation provided for Day Campers?
We do not provide a transportation service at our Georgia and Massachusetts
summer camps; however, we help parents generate a car pool list.
At our Illinois and Pennsylvania camps, transportation is provided
to and from local train stations. The Parent Information Package
will include forms if you would like to take advantage of the service.
Is transportation assistance available for Overnight Campers?
We pick up and drop off campers at area airports as well as at train
and bus terminals. There is a $40 charge each way for the service.
The Parent Package will include forms if you would like to take
advantage of the service
