Counselors Lead the Way
We strive to select and train only the best staff at Emagination Computer Camps. Some of our counselors started here as campers and some have been with us over 10 years! They are wonderful teachers, leaders and mentors.

Counselors & Campers Share the Passion for Technology
Counselors are recent college graduates and college students studying computer science, information technologies, multimedia arts and design or other related fields. All counselors are adults who share the campers' passion for computers and digital technologies and they love working with kids.

Face-to-Face Instruction (no online tutorials)
Emagination's counselors teach campers using professionally developed curriculums. We do not use online tutorials which we believe are a less effective learning tool in a summer camp environment.

At Emagination, campers learn at their own pace with more advanced campers able to move ahead to more challenging topics. Many workshops include progressive content that allows campers to repeat a workshop and advance their skills.

High Standards Mean Great Counselors
We recruit from a variety of colleges and universities, to develop a select team that meets our qualifications and high standards. Counselors go through a series of interviews with members of our management team. The hiring process also includes reference and background checks. We look for people who have both strong technology skills and experience with children.

Pre-Camp Training
Counselors arrive before the campers and complete Emagination's in person, on-site training and orientation program that has been developed over 25 years. We train our counselors in fundamental teaching skills and set high standards for delivering the curriculum of their assigned workshops. During this time, counselors are also trained to handle emergency situations and expectations are set for staff behavior and conduct. The Camp Director, Assistant Directors and selected counselors are certified in First Aid and CPR. Come opening day, staff are prepared for an exciting and challenging summer.

1:6 Counselor to Camper Ratio
Emagination operates at an average staff to camper ratio of 1:6 which significantly exceeds American Camping Association requirements. Technology Workshops range in size from 5-10 campers. We believe in nurturing the growth and development of campers one at a time. Our conservative staff ratios help us accomplish that goal.
