the legendary designer/creator of Age of Empires and Empire Earth.
Build a video game and experience what it's like to work at today's
top game design companies.
The
perfect summer for teens who are serious about game design. Immersive & Fast Paced Two-Week Overnight
Program --- Weekend Included
Teens experience an intensive and fun two weeks designing and building
a video game. There are no prerequisites. We start on Saturday and
run until noon on Friday two weeks later. At Emagination the weekend
between weeks is part of the program and is included at no extra
charge.
Guest Speakers > Game Studio Tour > Expert
Panel of Industry Pros
Guest speakers share design insights and an inside look at working
in this $13 billion industry. We tour a local game design studio
to see the pros in action. We finish with student teams presenting
their playable games to a panel of game industry executives for
critique and awards. And, everyone receives an Emagination Diploma.
Gaming at Night and Daily Recreation
Of course there's console and network gaming tournaments at night
(its research!) and time each day for outdoor games on the field
and swimming in the pool.
Learn New Skills
Teens learn the key technical and creative components of video game
design including level design and function, the creation of 3D graphics,
music and sound effects and programming. We use sophisticated software
including: 3ds Max from Autodesk; Adobe Photoshop; and FPS Creator
from The Game Creators Ltd.
Join a Development Team
Teens choose a role --- Level Designer, Graphic Designer, Audio
Artist, Story Writer, Programmer, and Game Tester (everyone's a
Game Tester!).
Build a Playable FPS Game
Lead Designers (aka our Instructors) oversee development teams as
they use an industry standard Design Document to build a playable
FPS game. Construct the game world. Create 3D characters and animations.
Select the sound & music. Program objects & controls. Create the
menus.
